Homemade Coffee Exfoliating Body Scrub ☕🍊 I have a @Nespresso machine and while I absolutely love it, I find the pods quite wasteful. So a couple weeks ago, I turned waste product into an invigorating #coffee scrub! If you have any type of coffee machine that uses pods, it just takes a little time to cut the used ones open and transfer the ground coffee into a container (I used a recycled glass salsa jar). This is much easier if you make your coffee in a French press. Just dump out the used granules into a jar. // HOW TO: I mixed the coffee with grapeseed #oil which is high in vitamin e. Any type of oil will do. Then I added some salt. I had chunky sea salt available so that’s what I used. With all these ingredients, use what you have at home and improvise. It saves going out and having to buy unnecessary items. It doesn’t have to be exact (minus the coffee). Sugar can be used instead of salt or you can leave it out entirely. Coffee and some kind of oil are the main ingredients. Add any essential oils you want. I had neroli, rosehip and jasmine on hand. I also put some fresh orange rind to give it a lovely citrus flavour. That’s pretty much it! Coffee when used on the skin is said to have many benefits from anti-cellulite to anti-inflammatory properties but I use it because it smells delicious and also is fun because I feel like I’m a kid playing in mud 😄 Enjoy!

My friend brought me over a bunch of #kale from his garden so I made spicy kale chips with them. Ripped the leaves from the stem, then tossed them in extra virgin olive oil and himalayan salt . Placed them on a baking tray, sprinkled them with paprika powder, pepper and cumin. Put them in the oven for about 15 minutes, turning once. Next time I’ll add some chili powder.

Writing up recipes, meal plans and training schedules. I’m never this organised but figured I should start. I love middle eastern food and baba ghanoush is a favourite of mine. Eat with carrot or celery sticks or use it as a type of dressing on meats or salads.

Light, lazy yet satisfying dinner of baby spinach and rocket, fresh strawberries from a friend’s farm, roast chicken, walnuts and balsamic glaze.

Breakfast Acai Bowl. Frozen blueberries, acai powder, water and some stevia pulsed in the blender. Topped with flaked coconut, hemp seeds, bee pollen, chia seeds and goji berries 👌🍧 I haven’t had any smoothies lately so this was perfect. In fact, I haven’t been eating too good lately. Very inconsistent. // Got my blood tests results back yesterday though (checked for the works: liver function, thyroid, diabetes, cholesterol, hormones and everything in between) and I was surprised that I’m very healthy and everything came back fine except for my vitamin d levels. That was the only issue and I’m otherwise fit and very healthy. Apparently they’re seeing a lot of vitamin d deficiencies these days (working environments playing a huge part, I’m sure) so I have to take a vitamin d supplement every day for a while. 💉💊☀ But that is fantastic news as I thought I would have a slew of things wrong with me so its a relief to know I’m a healthy young woman 😊

I can’t stand treadmills for long periods of time (and ellipticals are just cringeworthy to me). I just couldn’t do the power walking thing as I get very bored even while watching tv, listening to podcasts or reading a book. I began to not look forward to the gym or not going at all because it seemed like a tedious task, not an enjoyable experience. So today I killed it, doing my usual high intensity workouts that focus on body weight movements, crossfit style wods, weight lifting, skipping, mobility exercises etc. that has me constantly changing motion and my mind is focused on the movement and the willpower. I’d much rather be doing all that, hiking outside, kayaking, boxing and so than feeling like an unchallenged robot walking on a treadmill. #FitnessJournal

Feels like a long time since I’ve made one of my super salads. I made a new batch of my own dressing too which is just balsamic vinegar, olive oil, some organic Dijon mustard and filtered water.

3 Minute Paleo Mug Brownie. Followed this recipe: http://www.delightedmomma.com/2012/09/3-minute-chocolate-paleo-mug-cake.html?m=1 ☕ I left out the cinnamon, substituted honey for Natvia (stevia) and cocoa for raw cacao so it was healthier (and I’ve no other sugar in the house). It says you’re meant to microwave it for 2 minutes but this was the result after 1:20 and it was a bit dry. Next time I’d probably cook it for only 45 seconds but otherwise it was a good chocolate fix. Just realised I forgot the vanilla too but 1 tsp sounds a bit strong for such a small amount of mixture.
